Jaycee Chan

Jaycee Chan Jo-Ming (born on December 3, 1982 in Los Angeles, California with family roots in Linzi, Shandong, China) is an American and Chinese Hong Kong actor and singer. In 2004, he released his first Mandarin CD album in Hong Kong.

He is the son of Hong Kong action/martial arts star Jackie Chan and Taiwanese actress Lin Feng-Jiao. Jaycee was born Jo-Ming Jaycee Chan, but changed his surname to Fong/Fang as this is his true ancestral name.[1] Although this is his name in the Eastern world, his name remains "Jaycee Chan" in the Western hemisphere with a few sources listing him as "Jaycee Fong".

He was born on December 3, 1982, in Los Angeles, California,[2] but other sources, including Jackie Chan's autobiography, state that he was born in 1984 and that his parents were married in 1983. Jackie's official website states that he was married in 1982.

Although Jaycee was born in Los Angeles, he grew up in Hong Kong. He attended Wah Yan College, Hong Kong, an eminent all male Jesuit school in Hong Kong, until the age of 15. He then moved back to Los Angeles, where he attended co-ed schools.

Jaycee briefly attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia for two semesters, but dropped out due to poor grades. His college admissions were a disappointment to his father who had donated an undisclosed sum of money to Harvard University and given a lecture in hope of his son gaining admission. Despite this, his son was still denied.

Giving up on school, Jaycee eventually returned to Hong Kong for good in 2003. Although his album and movies have had dismal sales, his studio is adamant that he will be a success one day. In early 2009, Chinese websites reported that he has given up United States citizenship in favor of Chinese citizenship.[3]
