This lead her company to only sell her album in a 50-leg promotional tour around the country.[3]

In year 2009, Universal Music decided to bring her international recognition by re-launching her career in Taiwan. The new album I'm Karen released on 10 July 2009 to serves as an introduction of the rising star to the Chinese music fans. Louis Koo

File:LouisKoo2007.jpg
Louis Koo Tin-Lok, born 21 October 1970 in Hong Kong is a Chinese actor. He was once a notable local TV drama series actor, winning TVB's Best Actor award in 1999 for Detective Investigation Files IV. In recent years, he has focused on film. Louis has become one of the more famous actors of the Hong Kong film industry, and a spokesman for Pepsi, Osim, Tag Heuer, Lotte, Zero Eyewear, Lay's, and other Chinese products.

Before entering showbiz, Louis Koo spent 22 months in jail for robbery. Koo did not have a proper education and decided to enter showbiz afterwards. Koo began his career as a fashion model and a karaoke MTV actor before becoming a contract artist with TVB in 1993. Since then he has starred in many popular drama series and commercials which raised his popularity to new heights in recent years. Ever since he changed his image by getting an extreme tan (which he is well known for), his career gained a huge boost. His distinctive style has captivated audiences of all ages. In 1999, Louis was honoured with TVB's Most Popular Male Artist Award for Detective Investigation Files IV. In 2001, Louis was given the award once again for A Step into the Past and also the Most Stylish Personality Award and Men of Power 2001.

Koo also starred in various TVB television dramas, most notably the 1995 remake of Return of the Condor Heroes; Detective Investigation Files IV (1999); and A Step into the Past (2001). From the cool, aloof character that he had always been cast, he took a different character in A Step Into the Past. This deviation from the cool and aloof character to a funnier, carefree and down-to-earth one opened his career to an extensive list of romantic comedy movies that now have a distinctive Louis Koo element. His silent and sincere attitude, and his devotion to his family, makes his characters more convincing, and thus earns him a wide range of fan base. He further sang a couple of theme song for the television series that he played in. Besides that, he also has various other songs. A notable one is the album "Mr.Cool".

The 2007 film, Happy Birthday, introduced a sensitive character portrayed by Louis Koo. What sets this movie apart from his other romantic movies is the serious tone between dialogues. This is another first in Louis Koo's film career, that is to portray a sensitive man sans the comical gestures he has always done in past romantic comedies.

His most recent screen character as a drug addict in Protégé transcended from his usual charm and wit performances, as he attempted to forego his hunky image. Little screen time did not stop him to successfully achieve this role, and thus earned him positive feedback tucked under his belt.

Koo later received international acclaim for his performance in Election 2 (aka Triad Election), which was screened during the Out of Competition section at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

He won the award for Most Beloved Actor in the Hong Kong UA Film Awards 2006 through public voting for his role in Election 2.

Jackie Chan Hiu-ki

Jackie Chan Hiu-ki a.k.a. Kellyjackie is a Hong Kong amateur pop singer and a member of a band called the Royals. With her childhood idol being Kelly Chen, she incorporates "Kelly" into her nickname.

Prior to 2005, she was a secondary school student. She has been an internet singer for six years. She started off from the age of 13 by singing other singers songs. After about one year, she started composing songs. The first song composed by her was Lucky voice which, among her other songs, was released on the internet.[1] In January 2005, she composed the song He invites me to Disneyland (他約我去迪士尼) during her preparation for the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination as a way of reducing stress, inspired by the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty and the princely romance.[1]

She uploaded her song He invites me to Disneyland to her band's forum, her Xanga site, i010.com and also cmidi.com for free downloading by internet users.[2] Surprisingly, the song spread over via the internet (mainly through Bulletin Board Systems and WinMX) within a few weeks. For some time, the song ranked number 1 among Yahoo! Hong Kong's Top Searches (搜尋人氣榜).[citation needed] Some DJs also introduced the song over radio broadcasting. Many were delighted by her talent considering her age and limited experience in this area, although some also criticised her for her unsophisticated singing skills which arouse doubts about whether she could be coined a "singer". Nevertheless, the song eventually became extremely popular and widely praised in Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong and landed her a 5-year recording contract.

To celebrate the opening of the Hong Kong Disneyland, the Walt Disney Company published the Hong Kong Disneyland -The Grand Opening Celebration Album (香港迪士尼樂園開幕紀念大碟) and invited both Kellyjackie and Kelly Chen to perform the song He invites me to Disneyland, leading to the advent of the duet version of the song.

Her victory not only earned her a recording contract with Capital Artists Limited (華星唱片) but also a chance to become the only female apprentice of her childhood idol, Anita Mui. Her debut EP, first., came 5 years after her victory. During her 5 year wait, she went on tour with Anita Mui as a background singer and hosted various TV shows produced by TVB.

[edit] 2002

After Capital Artists closed, Denise Ho joined EMI in 2002. Although she was only with the company for a brief 2 years period, but it is during this time that her music talents flourished. She teamed up with Ying C Foo (英師傅) for her first EMI label release, hocc² (EP). The song "Angel Blues" (天使藍), composed by Ho herself, not only reached top spots on music charts, but according to Ho, it is also her "growing up" song [1]. Another single in the EP, "Rosemary" (露絲瑪莉), written by Wyman Wong, created considerable controversies at the time, as it touched on the topic of lesbianism. This song also marked the beginning of Ho's series of songs containing gay themes. Following the success of "Rosemary" (露絲瑪莉), Ho continued the story of the two lovers in "Goodbye... Rosemary" (再見…露絲瑪莉) in her first full length album, free{love}.

2002 proved to be a successful year for Ho. The two singles "Angel Blues" (天使藍) and "Goodbye... Rosemary" (再見…露絲瑪莉) have won multiple music awards in Hong Kong, including CASH Golden Sail Music Awards (CASH金帆音樂獎) – “Best Vocal Performance By A Female Artist” for the song “Angel Blues”. In the same year, Ho won the recognizable "Female Singer Bronze Award" in the Commercial Radio Hong Kong Annual Awards (叱吒樂壇流行榜頒獎典禮).

[edit] 2003-2004

Their performance won praise from the critics, and Ho proved to the audience her magnificent abilities to perform live as a musician. Later that year, Ho released her second full-length album Dress Me Up!. She was the credited as the producer of the album, indicating that Ho has finally gained full control over her music. In September 2003, Ho’s long time mentor, Anita Mui announced she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Shortly after the announcement, Anita lost her battle against cervical cancer and died on December 30, 2003.

Between 2003 and 2004, Ho took on the role of hosting TVB's weekly live music show, Jade Solid Gold. In 2004, she appeared in Sammi Cheng's 2004 "Sammi vs. Sammi" concert as a cross-dressing cigarette-smoking admirer of Sammi. Ho's critically acclaimed performance in the short musical segment not only brought attention to the role she played, but also further established herself as a tremendous live performer.

These singles helped her Receive the "Female Singer Silver Award" at Commercial Radio Hong Kong Annual Awards 2005 (叱吒樂壇流行榜頒獎典禮).

Her single, We Stand As One, named after the slogan for the "Live in Unity" concerts, was released on January 11, 2007. Recordings of the concert were later released in February 2007. Ho then went on a worldwide tour, performing in Toronto, Canada and Atlantic City, U.S..

[2]

In 2009, she followed up her plan from late last year, and organized a free concert (a huge rarity in Hong Kong) called "Happiness is for free" in the outdoor courtyard in Diocesan Boys' School. She managed to book the place because her father was a teacher there. In June, she began the shooting of a new TV sitcom of TVB (titled "The Queen's Office") with Liza Wang. In July, she released her new song "The Old Testament" (舊約)and announced that her concert with a theme "SUPERGOO" will be held during 9-12 October this year.

Brian Hau

Brian Hau (b. 15 July 1982, Hong Kong) is a singer-songwriter, designer and occasional cartoon artist based in Hong Kong.[1]. Hau's quirky style has earned him growing recognition in the singer-songwriter scene in Hong Kong. [2][3]

Not one to take himself too seriously, Hau has developed a signature sound all of his own. His songs are a unique combination of demos and improvised lyrics.[2] Currently, he has released two albums named Definition (2006) and I'm Fat But I'm Happy (2008).[4]

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada, the independent musician has a Bachelor of Design degree from the University of Alberta[5]. He came home to embark on a career in one of the world’s most baffling music industries.

"My music is influenced by Cantopop, which I listened to in my younger days," says Hau. "But when I went to Canada I listened to radio there, and so there’s kind of a blend." Hau’s influences include the likes of Matchbox 20 and Alanis Morissette, and semi-obscure Canadian bands Our Lady Peace and Moist.[6]
