Jiang Ying

Jiang Ying (simplified Chinese: 蒋英; traditional Chinese: 蔣英; pinyin: Jiǎng Yīng; born 1919 in Haining, Zhejiang), is a famous opera singer and music educator in China.

Jiang has half Chinese descent with half Japanese. She is the third daughter of Jiang Baili, a leading military strategist of Chiang Kai-shek, and his Japanese wife, Satô Yato (Japanese: 佐藤屋子). Jiang is also a cousin of famous novelist Jin Yong who also came from Haining of Zhejiang.

In 1945 in Shanghai Jiang married the famous rocket scientist and engineer Tsien Hsue-shen, who co-founded the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the United States and later led space program of P.R.China.
